2017 Classic Pairs.
This Event, sponsored by Casey Surveying & Design, was played on the weekend, May, 20-21. .
The tournament was well supported with teams from Hazelbrook, Condobolin, Parkes Railway Club and one team from Tasmania in attendance. Each team played five games over the weekend in what was perfect weather for bowling, resulting in some great bowls and exciting finishes.
The winners, Pat Cooney and Tom Furey from our home Club, were the only team to win their five matches, scoring 97.5 points in doing so.
A father and son team from Hazelbrook, Henry and Adam Bielderman won four matches, scoring 82 points to take out the second prize.
Garry Carberry and Graham Barby, from our Club, also won four matches but fell one short of second place, scoring 81 points.
A team from Parkes Railway Club, John Corcoran and Mike Valentine and our Club team, John Hodge and John Ward, both scored 77 points with John and Mike taking fourth place on a count-back and the two Johns winning the fifth place prize.
Three Mystery Prizes, drawn from a hat, were won by the teams of Steve Mills from Our Club and Ian Simpson from Condobolin, Scott Rawson and Scott Rixon from Hazelbrook and Bernie & Rose Mitchell and Liz Byrne (who substituted for Rose on Sunday).
Congratulations to all the winners and to all Bowlers who played over the weekend.
Many thanks to our Major Sponsor, Casey Surveying and Design, and our Co-Sponsors, Telescope Tyres and Parkes Couriers – your support was greatly appreciated and produced a fantastic weekend of Bowls.
Thanks also to all those who made the event possible.- I don’t intended to try to name them all but I must mention Graham Barby and Tom Furey who put in so much time and effort to ensure a great weekend and the volunteers who maintain the greens in such great shape.
Tom Casey indicated he saw no reason why he would not be sponsoring the event next year and we all look forward to another great weekend of Bowls.
