Parkes Bowling and Sports Club notes.
By Johnny Perella.

Keith McRae, Terry Hetherington and Dave Johnson are the major triples champions following a very convincing 32-22 win over Rob Tinker, Kevin Hynds and Ryan McLuckie.
They hit the lead after four ends and were never headed playing good controlled bowls never allowing their opponents back into the game, the match finishing one end short.
In the minor triples final Dave Worthington, Guy Bennett and Mick Craft made it three straight titles with a hard fought 26-19 win against Tom Casey, Greig Ball and Tony Byrne.
Dave’s boys all played their part and showed why they have notched up their three championships as they held on brilliantly against fierce opposition.
Thursday bowls.
Six social games and one handicap pair’s matches were played on a warm sunny afternoon.
In the handicap pairs Rob Tinker and Garry McPhee came home with a barnstorming finish picking up nine shots on the last two ends to win 27-21 against Arthur Corbett and Tom Hamilton.
Eight shots was the closest result in the social bowls, this was in the triples game as Greig Ball, Dean Searl and Don Littlewood defeated Kevin Hynds, Graham Dixon and Greg Davies 22-14.
Col Mudie and John Dunn won 27-18 over John Corcoran and Nev Whitfield, while next door Bob Risebourgh and Tom Cole put the cleaner through Ray Jones and Wally Austin 29-8.
John Ward and Graham Barby were too strong for Josh Mills and Wally Grant running out 23-10 winners, and in a similar result Terry Hetherington and Joe Crowley def John Carr and Bill Skinner 22-10.
The final game saw an easy win for Eddie McPhee and Bill Wyatt 26-11 over Ted Wright and Alan Hockey.
Social mufti this week will be in the safe hands of Terry Hetherington and Mick Craft.
Saturday Bowls.
There were nine handicap pairs and four games of social bowls making a total of 54 starters for Saturday afternoon bowls.
Highlight of the hcp pairs was a thrilling 22all tie between Gordon Dickson and Mike Valentine up against Dave Johnson and Mick Craft, Gordon and Mike picking up six shots over the last three ends.
A two on the final end was enough to give Greg fisher and Theo Holman a very narrow 28-27 win over Tony Bright and Sheldon Orr.
Another tough game resulted as Rob tinker and Ron Fisher were made to work hard all the way in their 25-21 win against Mike Parkes and Bernie Mitchell.
Showing good form again were Ben Townsend and Ryan McLuckie as they overcame stiff opposition from Ron Hornery and Bill Skinner 22-17.
John Carr and Colin woods finally got into the winners circle with a hard fought 29-23 win over Eddie and Peter McPhee.
Biggest winners on the day were Mick Went and Greg Townsend as they completely outclassed John Corcoran and Jim Jennings 35-10
In the social bowls there was a tie also as Graham Barby and Max Tomkins picked up a single on the final end to force a 21all draw with Robert Corbett and Wally Grant.
This week with the mixed pair’s tournament being held there will still be some rinks available for social bowls or any catch up Handicap pair’s matches that need to be played.
Starters for the afternoon will be John Ward and Mike Parkes.
We were saddened to learn of the passing of one of our senior members John Trotman last Friday.
John was a keen bowler and a very popular and regular member around the club; he will be sadly missed by one and all.
Sunday Bowls.
Just two social games of Sunday morning jackpot bowls and both had huge winning margins.
Wally and Marie Grant won 23-3 over Bernie and Rose Mitchell and Robert Corbett and June Burgess def Guy Bennett and Loraine Heald 20-5.
No Sunday morning bowls this week, it will be on the following week and the jackpot will be up to a handy $600.
