Here’s the latest from the Bowlie.
COMING EVENTS.
2017 Classic Pairs.
This Event will once again be sponsored by Casey Surveying & Design, and entries are now being taken for the event, to be played on the weekend of 20-21, May 2017. Co-sponsors for the tournament will be Parkes Courier Service and Telescope Tyres.
The draw for the event will take place on Friday, May 19 at 6.00pm at the Club (and anyone is welcome to attend) and play will commence at 8.45am on the Saturday and Sunday.
Teams of two can be all male, all female or mixed and the entry fee of $100 per team includes lunch on both days.
Format for the event will be;
Saturday, May 20 – three games of 15 ends.
Sunday, May 21 – two games of 15 ends.
Total Prize money is $3000 with prizes for the first five teams and 3 mystery draws, thanks to the support of the sponsors.

Club Minor Singles and Pairs Championships.
Entries for these events will close at 5pm today, Tuesday, April 18. Please put your names on the list provided at the club and the entry fee of $5 per player per event is payable when you enter.
Social Bowls.
Thursday, April 13.
Twenty-four players turned out to play six games of Pairs with a couple of close games and some not so close.
In a match were the lead changed hands several times, John Ward and Ron Fisher had a two shot lead with four ends to play. On each of the next two ends Col Mudie and John Keogh scored single shots to level the score 15 all and go on to score single shots on both of the last two ends to win the match, 17-15.
In another close one, the teams of Col Hayward and Nathan Wills (a visitor) and Warren Bevan and John Taylor both scored single shots on the opening two ends but Warren and John took the lead after the third end and maintained the lead from there on, to finally claim the match 17-15.
In other matches:
Ted Wright and John Watson just got home against Les Kent and Bob Freeman.
John Hodge and Mick Craft were too strong for Gary McPhee and Chris Dunn.
Ray Jones and Joe Crowley proved too strong for Rob Irving and Martin Tighe.
George Bradley and Ron Hornery had a convincing win against Warwick Parker and Jim Blake.
The Prize winners were Ted Wright and John Watson and the Runners-up prize went to Ray Jones and Joe Crowley.
Saturday, April 15.
Three games of Pairs and one of Triples were played on Easter Saturday.
The Triples turned out to be the closest match of the day. Rob Irving, Jim Blake and Mal Porter won the first three ends to lead 4-0. Ron Hornery, Les Kent and Bob Freeman fought back and took the lead after thirteen ends, 13-11. Rob’s team scored six shots over the next two ends to again lead, 17-15 before Ron’s team won three of the next four ends to trail by one shot with two ends to play. Rob’s team scored 3 shots on those two ends to win the match 21-17.
In the Pairs matches, Mark Dwyer and Brenda Davies just got home against John Ward and Rhona Went, 19-14. Col Hayward and Nick Cooper (visiting from the Belconnen Club in Canberra) lost the first four ends, to be down 0-9 before getting up against Liz Byrne and Martin Tighe, 23-16.
In the other match, John Davies and Gordon Dickson played some great bowls to score far too many against George Bradley and his partner (who will remain nameless and deserved a lot more support) scored not nearly enough.
The Prize winners were John Davies and Gordon Dickson.
Friday Night
The Badge Draw was not drawn last Friday and will be worth $1600 in this week and the draw will take place after after the meat and voucher raffle.
As usual good pub style meals will be available at very reasonable prices.
