G'Day and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The Final of the MIXED PAIRS was played on Saturday with Margaret Hawken and Graham Barby taking on Chris Dunn and Pat Cooney. The game was a very close affair up to the half way mark, then Margaret and Graham hit their straps and went on for a good win 24/10. Congratulations Margaret and Graham.
MAJOR FOURS.
Sunday afternoon saw the finals of the Men's Major Fours. Craig Cusack, Greig Ball, Dave Buggie and Col Hayward took on Noel Nicholson, John Ward, Robert Corbett and Arthur Corbett. And in a game that went down to the wire, the spectators saw a magnificent game. At the 21st end, the scores were tied 19/19, which saw an extra end being played to determine the winner. And what a nail biter, Arthur Corbett with the last bowl of the day was 5 down but he took a deep breath and delivered the bowl. When it came to the end, it wavered then fell back giving Col Haywards team the win by 1 shot ,20/19.
What a game to end the Club Championships for the year. Congratulations to both sides for a great game.
