Pairs And Singles At Semi Final Stage

Here's the latest from the Bowlie.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Wally Grant played Baldy Frame in a major singles quarter final. Baldy won the first seven ends and led 14-0. Wally then started to find some form and won 10 of the last 17 ends played in the match. Unfortunately most of his winning ends were single shots whereas Baldy scored multiple shots in his winning ends. Baldy’s great start allowed him to always hold a good lead and he went on to win the match 31-13.
Both the minor and major singles and pairs have reached the semi final stage. Dates for the completion of these matches are listed on the board.
PENNANTS
Grade 4 played Coonabarabran at Parkes Bowling & Sports on Saturday afternoon and won 64-49.
Team scores were:
Tom Furey, John Hodge, John Ward and Col Mudie lost 17-18.
Mike Valentine, Peter McPhee, Mark Dwyer and Warren Bevan won 24-9.
John Carr, Steve Ryan, Arthur Corbett and John Corcoran won 23-22.
They then played Dubbo Railway on Sunday and were defeated 67-48.
Team scores were:
Tom Furey, John Hodge, John Ward and Col Mudie lost 16-19.
Mike Valentine, Peter McPhee, Mark Dwyer and Warren Bevan lost 14-23.
Matthew Parker, Steve Ryan, Arthur Corbett and John Corcoran lost 18-25.
Grade 4 play Coonabarabran at Coonabarabran next Sunday.
Zone pennants saw Grade 1 play two games on Sunday. They played Dubbo Railway in the morning and were defeated 92-41.
Team scores were:
Geoff Freeman, Tom Casey, Robert Corbett and Col Hayward lost 13-28.
Paul Henry, Warwick Parker, Eddie McPhee and Graham Fliedner lost 12-36.
Mick Craft, Max Tomkins, Michael Went and Baldy Frame lost 16-28.
In the afternoon they played Dubbo City and were defeated 64-57.
Team scores were:
Geoff Freeman, Tom Casey, Robert Corbett and Col Hayward lost 16-23.
Paul Henry, Warwick Parker, Eddie McPhee and Graham Fliedner won 30-12.
Mick Craft, Max Tomkins, Michael Went and Baldy Frame lost 9-29.
Next Sunday Grade 1 play West Dubbo at Parkes Bowling & Sports in what will be their final match of the 2015 pennant season.
THURSDAY SOCIAL BOWLS
18 bowlers played three games of pairs and one triples.
In the triples game Don Littlewood, Alan Affleck and Col Mudie were far too strong in their 26-7 win over Ian Mill, Les Kent and Geoff Freeman.
Mick Blunt and Warren Bevan played Rob Irving and John Corcoran. Rob and John held a slender 5-4 lead after seven ends. They then won five of the next six ends to extend their lead to 15-5. Mick and Warren tried hard but were unable to catch the leaders with Rob and John going on to win 21-15.
John Dunn and Arthur Corbett played Mike Valentine and Col Hayward. John and Arthur held an early 6-4 lead before Mike and Col took charge, winning the next nine ends to hold a good 17-6 lead. John and Arthur fought back and narrowed the score to 17-14 with two ends to play. Mike and Col won the last two ends to win 19-14.
John Watson and John Hodge played Bill Skinner and Ron Hornery. Bill and Ron held a handy 17-8 lead after 13 ends. The two John’s then won four of the next five ends to narrow the lead to 19-14. The last two ends were shared with the final outcome being a 20-15 win to Bill and Ron.
The major prize winners were Bill Skinner and Ron Hornery and the minor winners were Don Littlewood, Alan Affleck and Col Mudie.
SATURDAY SOCIAL BOWLS
16 bowlers played four games of pairs.
Alan Affleck and Steve Turner led all the way in their 33-13 win over Bob Freeman and Nimo Mills.
Rhona Went and Gary McPhee played Rob Irving and John Dunn. Rhona and Gary won the first five ends to lead 10-0. Rob and John won 10 of the last 16 ends but were unable to score many multiple shot winning ends which resulted in Rhona and Gary running out 22-13 winners.
Guy Ellery and Geoff Freeman played Stuart Kelly and Ron Hornery. Guy and Geoff led 12-5 after 10 ends. Stuart and Ron fought back to level the score at 15 all after 19 ends. Stuart and Ron scored two shots on the penultimate end and held on to win 17-16.
Ted Wright and Keith MacRae played Ray Jones and Joe Crowley. Ray and Joe won the first nine ends to lead 11-0. The next six ends were evenly shared with Ray and Joe leading 16-5. Ted and Keith finished strongly, winning the last 6 ends to tie the game 16 all. Ray and Joe won the ends 12-9.
The major prize winners were Rhona Went and Gary McPhee.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
10 bowlers played one games of pairs and one triples.
Bob Freeman, Keith Hutchison and Martin Tighe won the last end to score a narrow 12-11 win over Don Littlewood, Chris Dunn and Nimo Mills.
After leading 12-3, Guy Ellery and Maureen Baillie held on to defeat Dean Searl and George Boatswain 17-14.
Prize winners were Don Littlewood, Keith Hutchison and Dean Searl.
The jackpot of $500 was not won and will be $540 next Sunday. Come along on Sunday morning for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich, and a chance of winning the jackpot. Names in by 9:30am for a 10:00am start.
