MIXED PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Both the Mixed Pairs and Mixed Fours titles were finalised in the last week.
The final of the Pairs saw Gwenda Carty and Col Hayward score a narrow 20-17 win over Rhona and Mick Went. After 10 ends the score was 8 all before Rhona and Mick held a 12-10 lead after 12 ends. Gwenda and Col gained the lead on the 15th end and lead 14-13. The last six ends were shared three each, however Gwenda and Col scored one three shot end to hold the lead and go on to win 20-17.
The semi-finals of the Mixed Fours were played on Saturday.

Wally Grant, Maree Grant, Chris Dunn and Pat Cooney scored a good 25-14 win over Gwenda Carty, John Hodge, Cherie Frame and Col Hayward. Team Cooney led 8-0 and then 18-4 after eight ends. Despite losing eight of the next eleven ends, they held firm to record a very convincing win.
In the final, played on Sunday, team Barby was up against team Cooney. The first 13 ends saw the lead change eight times with team Cooney leading 12-11. Team Barby then won the next six ends to lead 21-12 and despite losing the last two ends they held on to win 21-17.
BRAGGERS CUP
The Parkes Bowling and Sports Club bowlers recorded a 4-2 victory over Railway Diggers in the return pairs matches played last Friday at Parkes Bowling & Sports Club.
The teams of John Hodge and Tom Casey, Alan Affleck and Col Hayward, Maree Grant and Pat Cooney, and Matt Parker and Flip Fliedner recorded wins. The teams of Tom Furey and Dave Johnson, and Gwenda Carty and Liz Byrne lost their matches.
This result gave Parkes Bowling & Sports Club an overall 18-6 margin over the four nights of play. The result is not as important as the increased interaction between the two clubs and the promotion of lawn bowls in Parkes.
Condobolin Bowling Club has indicated they would like to participate in a similar challenge early next year. This will require 12 players who are willing to travel to Condobolin on a Friday night. Anyone wishing to play should give their name to a bowls committee member or Baldy Frame.

Happy bowling.
