G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
PENNANTS.
The weekend saw all our teams in operation, the ONES started their campaign with a double header at Dubbo, but met a couple of red hot sides, going down 6/0 to Railway and 5/1 to West Dubbo. This Sunday they are off to Nyngan, and must win big time to stay in the hunt.
The Fives were also at Dubbo, doing battle at City, and came home with a four and Half to one and Half win. This Sunday they are at home to Dubbo Railway, please note, this game is set down to start at 11am.
Both the Sixes and Sevens were at home to Condobolin, the Sixes had to win 6/0 to stay in Contention and they did just that, now must wait to see the result of the Railway/Forbes match. While both The Sevens sides were out of the running, they had a ding dong battle, with Condo getting up 5/1. So now we can sit back and wait for next year.
CLASSIC PAIRS.
The Telescope Tyres, Parkes Auto, Dwyers Fresh, Hunter and Co and Griffin Leading Edge sponsored Classic Pairs went off with a bang, despite the miserable weather, 30 teams did battle for the prize money and the winners were, Graham West and Lyle Strudwick, with Mike Connelly subbing for Lyle on Thursday, second place went to Bruce Williams from Forbes and Allan Messiter from Cowra, Mark Dwyer and Col Hayward coming home third, and Graham Barby and Joe Davies fourth.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
No games on Thursday, due to the Classic Pairs and a small crowd on Saturday, the winners on the day being Keith MacRae and Laurie Westcott.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
One game of Minor Triples played on Saturday, with Gary McPhee, Peter McPhee and Steve Ryan getting up over Bob Freeman Jim Jennings and Wally Austin 35/16.
The first round of this event is set down to be played by this Saturday, so the greens should be pretty full.
GENERAL NEWS.
The Final of the Major Singles is set down for this Saturday, with Baldy Frame playing Robert Corbett, this game should be a cracker, with both players in great form.
GAME STARTERS.
Tomorrow (Thursday) sees Col Hayward and Graham Barby in charge, Saturday John Ward and Ron Murray, while next Thursday will be Terry Hetherington and Mick Craft.
Remember, if you are unavailable, please organize a replacement, don't leave your partner in the lurch.
