Team Fliedner wins fours.

Here is the latest news from the Bowlie.

STATE CLUB CHALLENGE
The clubs Gold Team played their return match at Dubbo Railway Bowling Club and came home with a 3-0 rink win and maximum points.
In the fours match, played over 18 ends, The Parkes team of Graham Barby, John Corcoran, John Davies and Graham Fliedner played John Adams, Ringo Adams, Vic Simpson and Paul McKenzie. The Parkes team led for the entire match and despite dropping five shots on a latter end they won 17-13.
The Parkes pairs team of Tom Casey and Col Hayward played Anthony Jarvis and Jay Porter. Anthony and Jay got out to lead by three shots and then Tom and Col came back to lead 11-10 after 14 ends. The last end saw the Dubbo side kill the end with Tom and Col holding four shots. The replay of the end had Dubbo holding two shots and the match. Col played his last bowl which promoted his teams bowl up for shot resulting in a 12-10 win.
Brett Frame played the singles match against Jai Marskell. Brett got out to lead 14-0 before Jai fought back to trail 24-25. Brett then scored the next six shots to win the match 31-24.
A very good overall result considering a number of the Dubbo Railway bowlers are NSW country representative bowlers.
Their next match is against West Dubbo at West Dubbo on Sunday 3rd November.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
The final of the major fours were played on Sunday.
Steve Turner, Paul Henry, Mark Dwyer and Brett Frame played Dave Johnson, Craig Henry, Peter McPhee and Graham Fliedner.
Team Frame led 8-0 after three ends. Team Fliedner fought back to level at 10all after 11 ends. From then on Dave, Craig, Peter and Graham overpowered the opposition, winning nine of the last ten ends and ran out very comfortable winners 27-11.
The first round of the Mixed Pairs were played on Wednesday evening.
Gwenda Carty and Col Hayward led all the way in recording a 19-11 win over Elaine Miller and Dave Johnson.
Cherie Frame and Robert Corbett won the ends 14-7 against Ellie Hetherington and Keith MacRae and went on to win the match 20-11.
The last match saw Margaret Hawken and Graham Barby up against Brenda and John Davies. Brenda and John held a good lead of 14-5 after eight ends and still led 17-13 after 16 ends. Margaret and Graham finished strongly, winning four of the last five ends, resulting in a winning score of 21-18.

SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
8 bowlers turned out to try to win the $1000 jackpot.
Bob Freeman and Robert Corbett played Tom Cole and Keith Hutchison. After the scores were very close mid game, Tom and Keith won five of the last six ends to run out 18-10 winners.
Rob Irving and Kevin Hynds played Chris Dunn and John Dunn. Rob and Kevin led comfortably 12-1 after seven ends, then a fight back by John and Chris saw them lead 16-15. Rob and Kevin then won the last two ends to run out victors 22-16.
Voucher winners were Rob Irving, Bob Freeman and Tom Cole.
The jackpot was not won and remains at $1000.
Come along next Sunday for a game, a sausage sizzle, and to be in the running for the $1000 jackpot.

SOCIAL
Thursday saw 20 bowlers playing five games of pairs.
No cards were handed in, so I cannot give details of the matches.
Thursday’s major prize winners were John Ward and Noel Nicholson and the minor winners were John Hodge and Peter McPhee.
On Saturday 22 bowlers played four games of pairs and one game of triples.
The triples match saw Bill Skinner, Gary McPhee and Dave Johnson play Noel Nicholson, Steve Mills and Ron Hornery. Noel, Steve and Ron led 12-5 after 13 ends. Bill, Gary and Dave, with the help of two five shot ends, finished the stronger and won the match 23-17.
Mike Valentine and Greig Ball were always in control of their match against Bob Freeman and Arthur Corbett. They ran out comfortable winners 27-7.
Ron Murray and John Ward had a good win over Bernie Mitchell and Terry Hetherington 26-15.
Brian Sefonte and Kevin Hynds played Alan Affleck and Joe Crowley. The score was 14all after 13 ends. Brian and Kevin then stormed home to win 29-18.
In the closest match of the day, John Dunn and Tony Bright had a close win over Steve Turner and John Carr 22-20.
Saturdays major prize winners were Brian Sefonte and Kevin Hynds and the minor winners were John Dunn and Tony Bright.

TWILIGHT BOWLS
Thursday night saw 54 bowlers play in the twilight bowls competition. In a very close match, Bushies defeated Crackerjacks 10-8. Some of the other matches saw Rok-FM continue their good form in defeating Elle 18-9 and Golden Girls defeated Tuff-Surf 22-18. Although losing to Three Amigo’s 13-8, Young Guns showed promise in their first outing.
Major prize winners were Casey Surveying with the minor winners being Super Bees. The lucky loser’s prize winner was We Wreckem-We Fixem.

GENERAL
A Melbourne Cup luncheon is being held on Tuesday 5th November.
2 course roast meal - $20 per head. 1pm start

The clubs Christmas raffle is up and running with tickets available on Friday nights as well as at the main bar anytime during the week.
A reminder of changes being implemented by the bowls committee:
Saturday social bowls is now a mixed event.
There will also be a change to the playing times. Up to and including Thursday 31st October, names to be in by 1:00pm with play to commence at 1:30pm. From Saturday 2nd November, names to be in by 12:30pm with play to commence at 1:00pm.
