Here is the latest from the Bowlie.
We are finally entering the last part of our championship games for the current year and I will have some reports to give you in the next couple of weeks in regards to these games.
Meanwhile in Handicap Singles played over the last week results are as follows;
Gary McPhee who gave a 4 shot start to George Boatswain has come out on top 25 shots to 19.
Col Hayward gave a 3 shot start to one of the clubs most consistent lead players Rob Irving; Col had a comfortable 25 shots to 8 win. Whilst that may seem a big win, Rob will be better for the experience and Col took the time to stay after the game to give Rob a few more ends and impart some tips.
In Handicap Pairs on Saturday afternoon in a close game, Graham Dixon and John Ward held on against a fast finishing Greg Huggins and Tom Furey 23 shots to 20. Greg and Tom scored 5 shots in the in the last 2 ends to fall just short.
On Thursday 5 games of social pairs were played with the following results;
Col Woods and Greg Howlett defeated Mal Porter and Ray Jones 25 shots to 18.
Bruce Deland and the ever reliable Warren Bevan who played excellent bowls defeated Graeme Barby and Col Mudie 24 shots to 14.
Graham Dixon and Keith MaCrae muscled up against John Dunn and John Ward to record a 18 shots to 13 win.
Gordon Dickson and Arthur Corbett had a decisive 16 shot win over Joe Crowley and Ron Hornery 26 shots to 10.
In Thursday twilight bowls in great conditions and frivolity with food and drinks on the night;
Purple People 14 shots defeated Steve McGaths Loopy Loppers 8 shots.
Dave Johnsons' Bowls Bros 15 shots were too good for Paul Lewins (the sledger) 1300 Bugmen team 5 shots. I am expecting that Paul will improve out of sight with his bowling over the next five years;maybe.
Central West Glass in a tight game against the Golden Girls had a 11 all draw. Golden Girls had better ends though coming out 7 ends to 6.
JCK formerly known as the Rok Fm team got a workout from The Cousins who defeated them 19 shots to 8.
In the final pairing We Wreck Em defeated High Rollers 13 shots to 6.
In Saturday social games;
Maureen Baillie and George Boatswain had a comfortable 27 shots win to Col Woods and Rob Irvings' 18 shots.
Gordon Dickson and Ron Hornery 28 shots were way too good for John Dunn and John Carr 10.
And finally in the only game of Triples; Mal Porter, Jim Blake and Ray Jones easily accounted for Gladryn Sun, Rob Tinker and John Davies 31 shots to 12 shots.
Next Sunday at 1130 we have our massive Farmers Day on which is being held to raise funds for our farmers and other people in the area struggling financially owing to our drought. Please come and support those who are doing it tough by meeting up at the club to play either bowls or Futsal. Entry fee is $20 which includes lunch and games prizes with winners to be drawn out of a hat. Three raffles will be held on the day with a monster silent auction with goods to the value of $5000 to be up for grabs. There are plenty of coaches on hand and you will be placed with an experienced bowler if required to give you a more enjoyable experience.
Form a team or come as a single entry; all are welcome and all proceeds go to Parkes Vinnies. To book or for enquiries please contact the club on 68621446; and for any enquiries please contact John Carr 0428652255 or Gary McPhee on 0418411427.
We are a family orientated facility with childs' playground facilities and a jumping castle will be available on the day.
