G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS.
Well, the new competition is up and running, with 20 teams fronting up last Thursday night for the first game of the year, with some familliar teams and some new ones, we are heading into a great 10 weeks of play, a couple of results from the games, SERVICES 11, beat ELLE 10, THROWN TOGETHER 13 in a close win over CRACKERJACKS 11.
If anyone is interested in submitting a team of 3, it is not too late, just be at the Club 6pm on Thursday night, and see Graham.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
24 players fronted on Thursday afternoon, for a game in the Sun, with the winners being Mike Parkes and allan Affleck, runners up being the triples team of Bruce Orr Ray Jones and Tony Byrne, a couple of close results from the day saw Mike Valentine and Col Hayward just get up over John Hodge and Arthur Corbett 18/17, and Tony Byrne Ray Jones and Bruce Orr, fell over the line against Trevor Collison Wally Austin and Geoff Freeman 17/16.
Saturday afternoon saw 28 players on the greens, with the winners being Steve Turner and Noel Nicholson, runners up Sheldon Orr and Dave Buggie.
A couple of close scores from the day saw Paul and Ben Townsend beat Ray Jones and Ron Hornery 19/16, while W Morgan (visitor) and Dave Worthington had a good win over Norm Keane and Steve (Memo) Mills.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
14 players fronted on a loveley Sunday morning for a crack at the Jackpot, but it did'nt go off, so $180 this Sunday, the winners on the day being Rob Irving Elaine Miller and George Boatswain, remember it is a casual clothes day, anyone can play, just have your names in by 9.30am for a 10am start, and enjoy a sausage sizzle after the game.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
In a Minor Singles game Steve Ryan was too good for Joe Crowley 31//, in a Minor Pairs game, Allan Affleck and Joe Crowley showed no mercy over Bernie Mitchell and Kev Hynds 26/9, and in a Major Pairs game John Hodge and Rob Tinker were too good for Mike Valentine and Robert Corbett 20/11.
GENERAL NEWS.
By the time you read this, Kev Hynds will be as bald as a badger, both head and beard, hopefully, next week we will be able to tell you all just how much Kev made for Can Assist.
Please check the board for the draws for all the Club events, Please try to get them over as soon as possible, don't wait for the last day, a Sunday afternoon would be a great time to play, no other bowls scheduled.
