CLASSIC TRIPLES CARNIVAL
16 teams turned out in the annual event played over 6 games of 15 ends where both locals and visiting bowlers shared the prize winners spoils.
The visiting team of Bruce Williams (Forbes), Geoff Williams and Brett Byrnes (Condobolin) were the overall winners followed by the local team of Warren Bevan, Dean Searl and Bruce Deland.
The full list of prize winners are:
1st – Bruce Williams, Geoff Williams and Brett Byrnes (5 wins + 37)
2nd – Warren Bevan, Dean Searl and Bruce Deland (5 wins + 32)
3rd – Graham Fliedner, Warwick Parker and Geoff Freeman (4 wins + 26)
4th – Richard Wise, John Venteman and Chris Webber from Belrose (4 wins + 16)
5th – Craig Henry, Tom Furey and Dave Johnson (4 wins + 15)

SOCIAL BOWLS
On Thursday 22 bowlers enjoyed the great spring weather playing four games of pairs and one triples.
After trailing 2-8 John Watson, Wally Austin and Warren Bevan won 11 of the next 12 ends to open up a 20-10 lead over Bill Skinner, John Dunn and Dave Buggie and then went on to win the game 20-14.
In a low scoring game John Taylor and John Ward scored a hard fought 19-11 win over Gordon Dickson and Kevin Wales.
Allan Wright and Col Mudie played Rob Irving and John Hodge. Allan and Col had the better start and led 12-6 after 13 ends. Rob and John scored six shots on the next two ends to level the score at 12 all. The next four ends saw each side score three shots for a 15 all score after 19 ends. Allan and Col won the last two ends to claim victory 18-15.
In a very close contest Ron Hornery and John Corcoran were tied 12 all with Mike Valentine and Keith MacRae after 15 ends. Mike and Keith won the next three ends to lead 17-12 and held on to win 18-15.
The last game saw Ted Wright and Col Hayward up against Graham Barby and Geoff Freeman. Aided by one five shot and one six shot end Ted and Col held a 14-8 lead after nine ends. Graham and Geoff fought back to level the score at 15 all after 14 ends. They then picked up four shots on the next end to lead 19-15. Ted and Col then won four of the next five ends to lead 21-20 on the penultimate end. Graham and Geoff scored one shot on the last end to tie the game at 21 all. Graham and Geoff won the ends 12-9.
Major prize winners were Graham Barby and Geoff Freeman with the minor winners being the triples team of John Watson, Wally Austin and Warren Bevan.
Players are reminded that with the commencement of daylight saving the times for social bowls are now names in by 1pm for a 1:30pm start.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
The running of the Classic Triples reduced the number of bowlers to just 6.
After leading 15-3 George Bradley, Chris Dunn and Maureen Baillie held on to defeat Eileen Bradley, John Dunn and Liz Byrne 15-11.
Prize winners were Chris Dunn, John Dunn and Liz Byrne.
The jackpot was not won and remains at $1000. Come along for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich and a chance to win the jackpot. Names in by 9:30 for a 10:00am start.

MENS BOWLING COMMITTEE
Nominations have been called for bowlers interested in being part of the men’s bowling committee. Positions to be filled are President, Vice President, Secretary and Committee (5). Nominations close on Tuesday, October 20. The next meeting of the men’s bowls is being held on Sunday, October 25 commencing at 5pm following a social bowls afternoon. Expressions of interest are also being sought for helpers with the schools program and also for the publicity officer’s position.
SCHOOL BOYS BOWLS TUTORING
The club is tutoring a number of high school boys in bowls. They are looking for the loan of newer type bowls in sizes ranging from size two to size four. Anyone lending their bowls can be assured their bowls will not leave the precinct of the club. Bowlers are also invited to help out with the tutoring.
TWILIGHT BOWLS
14 teams turned out last Thursday and enjoyed the opening free night of bowls. The first round of the competition is on tomorrow Thursday, October 15 commencing at 6:30pm. Anyone wishing to play who are not already registered should contact the club on 68621446. They can either nominate as a team or as a single participant where they will be put into a team.
FRIDAY NIGHT
Mel from Café’n’ate is cooking up a storm on Friday nights with great reviews from patrons. She cooks good old fashioned pub style meals at very reasonable prices. Raffles are also on where patrons have the chance to win meat trays, shopping vouchers and cash prizes. So come along and join in the fun. Members badge draw this Friday is $2400.
