CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.
During the week, two championships were decided.
Minor Fours Final.
The team of Wally Grant, Guy Ellery, Rob Irving and John Watson got off to a great start and lead 4-0 after the first two ends. They continued to play well and build on their lead and after eleven ends they lead Steve Ryan, Peter McPhee, Greg Townsend and Bob Freeman by 15 – 6.
Steve’s team were getting back into the game and with seven ends to play the lead had been reduced to 15 – 11. However, Wally’s team won six of the last seven ends to win the match quite convincingly and claim the title of Minor Fours Champions for 2016.
Mixed Pairs Final.
In the final of the Mixed Pairs, Liz Byrne and Col Mudie were up against Brett and Cherie Frame – and what a game it was.
The early ends were shared and after eight ends the score was level, 8 all. The next eight ends were also evenly divided and after sixteen ends the scores were level, 15 all. With two ends to play Brett and Cherie had a one shot lead (17 – 16) and went on to win the final two ends and claim the Championship with a 21 – 16 win.
Congratulations to all players involved and especially our Minor Fours and Mixed Pairs Champions for 2016.
