G'Day and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS.
20 teams fronted for Twilight bowls on Thursday night with the winners being Parkes Hospital, the runners up being Three Amigos and the lucky losers Fletcher Ford. A couple of results from the night, The Golden Girls had a hard fought win over Fletcher Ford 15/1. Parkes Hospital also had a hard game, winning over RTA 15/13 and Bushies had a good win over We wreckem 16/10.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 66 bowlers on the greens, this was because we hosted a bus load of travellers from Gymea Bowling Club. With all the visitors and local bowlers mixed up into teams, we had a great afternoon. Warm and windy and great fun. The winners on the day were I. Rostron D. McCray and J. Ward & runners up being R. Went M. Svasko and G. Ball.
Saturday afternoon saw 46 bowlers on the greens, with the winners being Greg Ballentyne and Dave Johnson & runners up being Ron Murray and Terry Hetherington. Some results on the day saw some very close games, Norm Keane and Kev Hynds beat Joe Crowley and Steve Ryan 11/10. In this game I saw Joe Crowley put down the bowl of the game. On an extreme long end he put down a bowl that went through the head to score the shot and never touched a bowl on the way, way to go Joe.The triples game saw Steve Turner, Ray Jones and Col Hayward beat Mark Dwyer, Peter McPhee and big brother Eddie 21/19. Another triples game saw Bernie Mitchell, Alec Morris (a visitor from Penrith), and Robert Corbett beat Col Woods, Keith MacRae and Ron Fisher 22/21. And again a triples match, the ladies had a great game with Laurie Keane, Ellie Hetherington and Gwenda Carty beating Leanne Simpson, Carole Morris ( a visitor from Penrith) and Rhona Went 16/14.
CHAMPIONSHIP PAIRS.
In the final of the Handicap Pairs the team of Ron Murray and Terry Hetherington beat John Dunn and Tom Casey in a closely fought game 23/12. The game was very close up till the 15th end with the score being 14/12 to Terry but then Ron and Terry hit their straps and went ahead for a good win.Congratulations to you both.
