Last Reminder For Open Triples

Here’s the latest from the Bowlie.
CLASSIC TRIPLES OPEN EVENT.
Just a reminder that entries are being taken at the club (phone 68621446) for a two bowls triples event to be held next Sunday, October 9 2016. Four games of fifteen ends will be played starting at 8.45 am.
Prize money (totalling $1500) will range from $480 for the winning team to $180 for the fourth placed team and will include three “mystery” prizes of $90 each.
The entry fee is $90 per team (which includes lunch and morning tea) and teams can be all male, all female or mixed.
Major sponsors of the day are, Forbes Central Butchery, Southern Cross Care and Parkes Top Town Traders.
All bowlers are welcome to enter and we look forward to seeing you on the day.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The Handicap Singles Championship got underway on Saturday, October 1 with Rob Irving, conceding eight shots to Bob Freeman, having a convincing win to proceed to the second round.
A number of the Club Championship events have still to be completed and hopefully, with an improvement in the weather, these events will be concluded in the coming weeks.

Thursday, September 29.
A very quiet day on the Greens today with only one Pairs and One Triples matches.
The Triples match ended in a convincing win for John Ward, Ray Jones and Gordon Dickson over Ron Hornery, John Watson and Mike Valentine.
On the other hand, the Pairs match was very close indeed.
Tom Furey and Geoff Freeman jumped away to an early lead over the first six ends and lead John Corcoran and Rob Irving 9-1. By the end of the eleventh end the lead was out to 14 -3 before Tom and Geoff worked their way back in to the game and with two ends to play they trailed by only three shots, 14 – 17. Tom and Geoff then won the last two ends, scoring three shots to tie the match 17 all, however, John and Rob claimed the victory having won eleven of the twenty-one ends played.
Saturday, October 1.
Another very quiet day on the Greens with only ten players contesting one game of Pairs and one of Triples with both matches finishing with very similar results.
Tom Furey and Joe Crowley lead for most of the game defeating Ron Hornery and Les Kent 21 -15.
In the Triples match the team of Guy Ellery, Ray Jones and Gladrin Sun lead early but could not hold back Geoff Freeman, John Ward and Jim Blake who finished winning the match 22 – 16.
TWILIGHT BOWLS
Twilight Bowls re-commences next Thursday, October 6, names in by 6.00 pm for a 6.30 start.
If you would like to give bowls a try, grab 2 friends or work mates and come along. All equipment is supplied all you need are a pair of flat sole shoes or thongs or play in bare feet if you want to. Cost is $10 per week which includes a sausage sizzle after the game.
Look forward to seeing all our regulars together with a few new teams for the coming season.

Social Bowls starting time.
A reminder to all bowlers that during Daylight Saving Time, on Thursday and Saturday names must be in by 1.00pm for a 1.30pm start.
Friday Night
Come along and buy the winning tickets in the “Early Birds” meat tray raffle at about 6:15pm followed by the major raffle with prizes of meat trays, vouchers and cash which will be drawn at about 8 o’clock.
The Badge Draw was not won last week and this Friday will be worth $1500, and will be drawn after the raffles.
MJ’S Bistro is open for business, serving great meals at very reasonable prices.
