Published by The Driving Lead in Bowls Notes • 3/4/2013 4:13:36 PM
G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie,
A big thanks to Joe Perella for doing the reports the last month, while I was traipsing around the country, many thanks Joe.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Last Thursday was a disaster for Bowls, but boy, was the rain welcome, however both the social bowls and the twilight bowls were cancelled,
Saturday saw 30 bowlers on the greens, with the winners being Dean Searl and Ron Murray, the runners up being Kev Hynds and Dave Worthington. There was also a Ladies game of social bowls played, ladies are reminded that they can play on Saturdays in their own teams.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT BOWLS.
A small number fronted to try for the jackpot, but it was now won, so now stands at $180 this Sunday.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
Both the Major and Minor Singles and Pairs are in full swing, it"s great to see everyone getting their games over before the end date, it makes it so much easier if there is a disruption to the weekend, some results from the past week.
In the MAJOR singles games John Carr outlasted Gary McPhee to record a good 31/26 victory, Graham (Flip) Fleidner had a big win over Eddie McPhee 31/12, Arthur Corbett beat a gallant Bruce Orr 32/19, and Greg Fisher beat a tiring Wally Grant 31/27. Wally played the final of the Presidents Singles at Forbes the day before , unfortunately going down 31/27. See a report of this game in the following story.
MINOR SINGLES, John Hodge had a good win over Gary McPhee 31/22, and Mick Craft beat Wally Grant 31/23.
MAJOR PAIRS. the team of Wally Austin and Mike Parkes were far too strong for Steve Mills and Terry Hetherington, winning 35/14, and in the game of the week, the young guns of Craig Cusack and Mick Went took on the defending champions Paul Henry and Baldy Frame, and in a game that went to an extra end, Craig and Mick got up 20/19, congratulations to all the players who took part, it's great to see bowls on Sunday Afternoons.

PENNANTS.
The Pennant season has started, the No7 grade started last Sunday, But our side had the bye first up, this Sunday we will be home to the Railway Diggers side, the sides will be on the notice board on Wednesday, so please check to see what team you are in, and your position.
The other three grades will be starting at the end of the Month.
Unfortunately I have to advise you Craig Cusack has resigned as Bowls Secretary, so we are in desperate need for someone to take on this very important role. Please give serious thought to giving it a go. I cannot go on doing three jobs.
That's it for this week, see you all at the Bowlie.
