Sunday Jackpot Still Alive

Welcome to this week's news from the Bowlie.
BUSINESS HOUSE BOWLS.
The last night of bowls was last week, Wednesday went out with a wimper, Thursday with a bang.The winners of the Wednesday night Competition were Poets Corner, comprising Bob Risenborough Kevin MaGuire and Chris Millwood, with the runners up being the Headless Chooks, comprising Jacob Johnson, Dave Johnson and Craig Henry.
Thursday night winners were Casey Surveying, consisting of Tom Casey, John Green and John Maddison, while the runners up were The Villagers, represented by A Draper, L Kent and D McKenzie. well done to everyone.
The new comp. which will be starting in October ? , when daylight saving starts again, will hopefully be a new comp, new name, new rules, new conditions, and hopefully more enjoyable to all the teams competing, more on this later in the year.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon saw 22 bowler on the greens, with the winners being Wally Grant and John Corcoran, the runners up being Tony Byrne and Col Mudie.
Saturday Afternoon saw 38 bowlers take to the greens, with the unusual situation of both the winners and runners up being single games, and the markers being Tony and Liz Byrne.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
The semi final of the Minor Pairs were played, with Guy Bennett (sub) and Greg Fisher beating the fancied pair of Greig Ball and Tom Casey 17/10, they now play the Father & Son pair of Jonno and Wally Austin in the finals, best of luck to both teams.
The Major pairs is also in full swing, and the two games played saw Noel Nicholson and Robert Corbett beat Col Mudie and John Corcoran 21/16, and Paul Henry and Baldy Frame beat Wilbur Harris and Mark Dwyer 24/17.
Three games of Minor singles were also played, Craig Henry beat Wally Grant 31/27, Terry Hetherington beat Mike Parkes 31/25, and Bernie Mitchell beat Wes Westcott 31/23.And two games of Major Singles were also played, Tony Bright beat Arthur Corbett 31/26 and Graham Barby beat Kevin Hynds 31/23.
Its great to see the players getting on with their games, while the weather is very kind to us, the various events are now well ahead of schedule, keep up the good work.
SUNDAY MORNING BOWLS.
Well its hard to believe, but the jackpot is still alive, there will be no bowls this Sunday (Easter Sunday), but will resume the week after, where the jackpot Now will be down to 3, I have a feeling this will be it, so all you regulars had better front up for the day.
GENERAL NEWS.
Now that Daylight Saving has finished, the bowls times have gone back to the old time of, names in by 12.30, for a 1:PM start.
Members please check out the notices on the new TV, there is now a lot of news about coming events, and general news on bowls, plus general club news, we are really getting into the swing of things.
We really need some more players for the Mini Carnival on Easter Saturday, a couple of teams are still looking for players to make up their numbers, it is a mufti day, with play starting at 9.30AM. If you can help out please put your name in the Blue Book at the bar.Finally, I hope every one has a very happy Easter, and if you'r travelling, have a safe journey.
